Well, I was at the market Thursday, with plans to cook 'ikan masak tauchu'. I already saw myself tucking in this sourish dish laden with lots of green chillies and chunks of cut cucumber. Nothing fancy, but on days when you couldn't think of anything else to cook, this one would definitely suit the taste-buds. Before I made my rounds for the fish-mongers, I could see from afar, my butcher was pulling a humongous slabs of bones out of his equally huge basket. Bob saw me and gave a thumb's up for his ware that day; not to mention, his usual quip of "cantik kak hari ni!". But of course, he meant his beef and bones were 'cantik'. I don't mind taking the credits though... Wehehehehe! I decided to ONLY check on the bones and maybe buy some tenderloin meat for later consumption over the weekend. But then again...I have weaknesses for some things including this:
Oh me oh my.... such juicy 'tulang dada' begging me to take them home!
So, forget ikan masak tauchu and those crunchy cili muda...hu hu....and say hello to:
Gulai tulang tumis darat...once removed from the stove,
and...
...ladled out for lunch the other day.
What a sinful bliss!

Alamak terliornya saya di dinihari begini tengok gulai tulang tumis.. aghh delicious. My other half normally serve soup daging on wednesday evening.. wednesday being the pasar tani day ;))

Memang takde intention nak masak ni, sebab baru jer awal bulan tu buat mee rebus guna tulang dada jugak. Tapi selalu tak dapat tahan godaan tulang2 lembut yang boleh dipepah tu! Hahaha
I'm not a fan of sup tulang...macam tak jadi lauk...hehe! Tapi mesti manis buat sup ni dan cicah roti benggali ;)

Percaya tak I was contemplating to kuk ikan masak taucu juga 2 days ago? Ada lebih ikan gor bawal n I thot nak campak long beans in...tapi tak kesampaian atas sebab peribadi (read 'malas' ler tu, hehe).
Hari nih I shall cook up a storm for lunch, haha. Stormlah sangat (ntah2 JJCariLauk, wahahahhh).

Ni I nak share another secret. Since your hubby tak suka the steamed version, why not marinade ayam (yang belum direbus) dengan oyster sauce, minyak bijan, kicap and sugar, and stand for a couple of hours. Lepas tu masak ayam, preferably dibelah empat, dalam oven. Ayam akan masak sempurna...no trace of blood whatsoever, and believe me, the meat is so juicy and tender inside, and crispy outside. Tunggu betul-betul sejuk baru chop...that way, you get a very even slices. Collect the juices from the pan, tambah air panas and adjust for taste and perhaps, add a little bit more of kicap. Drizzle atas ayam masa makan, Pergghhh! ;)
