Afternoon Delights....

I watched "You've Got Mail" at HBO, hmm... for the umpteenth time, today. Some heart-warming tales like this is worth watching repeatedly but it can be rather addictive (hehe!) as I have this habit of mimicking the actors' lines. This one especially : "I love daisies...they're so friendly. Don't you think daisies are the friendliest flower?". Set in time when e-mail and on-line messages became prevalent (what? 1998? I started surfing in 2008! I'm 2000 late!)... where strangers are welcome into your virtual domain.... er...but, let's just leave it there! Or, just say, I'm not good at reviewing movies. Well, I'm not solely 'into' its story line, mind you... but the fact that I also loved to observe the quaint little bookshop and captivated by the books, and let my imaginations run wild, believing I'm somewhere there devouring books, books, books! And of course falling in love with New York City... and, and....afternoon tea!

Here are some of the memorable lines I'd like to share and that equally beautiful song featured:

Kathleen Kelly: Sometimes I wonder about my life. I lead a small life. Well, not small, but valuable. And sometimes I wonder, do I do it because I like it, or because I haven't been brave? So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn't it be the other way around? I don't really want an answer. I just want to send this cosmic question out into the void. So good night, dear void.

Joe Fox: The whole purpose of places like Starbucks is for people with no decision-making ability whatsoever to make six decisions just to buy one cup of coffee. Short, tall, light, dark, caf, decaf, low-fat, non-fat, etc. So people who don't know what the hell they're doing or who on earth they are can, for only $2.95, get not just a cup of coffee but an absolutely defining sense of self: Tall. Decaf. Cappuccino.

This song is one of my favourites from Carole King's brilliant composition. Too bad, they have disabled the version from You've Got Mail due to copyright violation... whateverlah!

Salam Aini,

Nice of you to drop by. Yes, I noticed you at pakmat's and, you have ways with words too! Like pakmat, I too, think you should blog. Let us immerse in your inner-thoughts... or perhaps share with us your outlooks about life... sometimes simple things mean a lot to one or the other.

Hmm..about this movie, I thought Meg Ryan made an impact in almost all her movies. Last month and in October too... I had been watching 'The Women'. But I guess, You've Got Mail has a significant episode in my life! Hehe!

Well, my dream has always been simple... just a small room for my books all to myself.. and aptly named: "Mummy's Little Bookroom"! hiks! Sad to say albeit contented, I only have the little corner of my already small living room for my book collections. :)

Aini... FYI, my all time favourite movies would be "The Shawshank Redemption" and that nostalgic "Stand By Me'!
