Slipping Through My Fingers...

In few hours' time we will be ushering a brand New Year 2010. My year end is made meaningful with the blessings that Allah has bestowed upon me by answering my doas... As for now, I am not revealing what my special request (prayers) are, but one is definitely about my daughter, Yasmin Maisarah.... who has made us proud. Somehow, seeing her lying ill two days ago, I can't help but thinking of the day when she would leave this nest to spread her wings in the field she chooses to pursue...  Thus, my mixed sentiments got the better of me. The feelings I had is well, ... well said in this old video clip of ABBA....

(pic: Mysarah at her Tok Mat's house with No More No Less, the rabbit)

Schoolbag in hand, she leaves home in the early morning
Waving goodbye with an absent-minded smile
I watch her go with a surge of that well-known sadness
And I have to sit down for a while
The feeling that I'm losing her forever
And without really entering her world
I'm glad whenever I can share her laughter
That funny little girl

Slipping through my fingers all the time
I try to capture every minute
The feeling in it
Slipping through my fingers all the time
Do I really see what's in her mind
Each time I think I'm close to knowing
She keeps on growing
Slipping through my fingers all the time

Sleep in our eyes, her and me at the breakfast table
Barely awake, I let precious time go by
Then when she's gone there's that odd melancholy feeling
And a sense of guilt I can't deny
What happened to the wonderful adventures
The places I had planned for us to go
(Slipping through my fingers all the time)
Well, some of that we did but most we didn't
And why I just don't know

Slipping through my fingers all the time
I try to capture every minute
The feeling in it
Slipping through my fingers all the time
Do I really see what's in her mind
Each time I think I'm close to knowing
She keeps on growing
Slipping through my fingers all the time

Sometimes I wish that I could freeze the picture
And save it from the funny tricks of time
Slipping through my fingers...

Slipping through my fingers all the time

Schoolbag in hand she leaves home in the early morning
Waving goodbye with an absent-minded smile...

HAPPY NEW YEAR YOU ALL!  :)

Salam Lili,

Our kids grow up and leave us when the time comes... something we cannot avoid, just as what we did to our parents those many years ago. Your little girl will do fine, insyaallah.

Happy 2010.

Salam Oldstock,

To that I have made a deal with her. Hehe... no boarding schools for her! Whatever time we have now is good to last before she really flies from the comfort of my nest. Moreover, the harsh world out there justifies my apprehension... if she's out of my sight... All mothers feel the same, don't they?

Thank you and Happy New Year, bro!

Salam Pakmat,

...hehe, sometimes pakmat, the brain plays fast-track scenarios!
The future, to be exact... by skipping one or two scenes, mostly sequels... none prequels! And I'm being ME... the impulsive 'child' - I get cold feet easily just thinking of it...
Hubby always advises me not to think of the unthinkable... Whatever that means, pakmat?

But I'm okay... thanks! Hehe :-)
